The first CASE CX85E midi excavator in the UK has been delivered to Harbour Lights Campsite, located at the southwest tip of the Lake District. Supplied by Dennis Barnfield, the machine is equipped with an Engcon EC209 tilt-rotator and Trimble 2D machine guidance, designed to improve operational efficiency across the site.
Harbour Lights Campsite, which operates year-round, caters to tents, motorhomes, caravans, and an increasing number of static holiday homes. Site owner Jason Attwood plans to add 100 new static home plots over the next four years, and the CX85E will be used to build concrete bases for these plots, along with landscaping duties around the site’s lakes and water features.
Having used various older machines for site development, Mr. Attwood chose the CX85E due to its local dealer, Dennis Barnfield, and the comfort of its cab. He also appreciated the joystick-controlled tracks, which make navigation of the large site much easier.
The excavator is equipped with a customized counterweight to improve stability and lifting capacity, and its Stage V diesel engine delivers 53.7kW (73hp). With its electronic hydraulic system, the CX85E offers customizable circuit settings, allowing operators to adjust the machine’s performance to suit specific tasks.
As the campsite expands, the CX85E will be crucial in supporting the growing demand for facilities and ensuring the site’s continued success.
