Hyundai Construction Equipment is set to begin manufacturing its first production electric mini excavator, the HX19e, in April. This 5,061-pound machine, designed for urban construction and utility work, will debut at Bauma, marking a significant step in Hyundai’s electrification strategy.
Battery Options and Performance
The HX19e will be available with two lithium-ion battery pack options: 32kWh and 40kWh. The larger battery offers up to 7 hours of operation, and Hyundai suggests that strategic charging during work breaks can extend use throughout an entire workday. This electric model is based on the diesel-powered HX19A, a popular choice in Europe, and will gradually replace previous electric prototypes. The HX19e comes with a Type 2 charging connector and supports multiple power inputs:- 110V/230V standard charging: Full recharge in 4.8 hours (32kWh) or 6 hours (40kWh).
- Rapid charging via REMA DIN 320 (380V/440V supply): 2 hours (32kWh) or 2.5 hours (40kWh).
Electric Power with Hydraulic Efficiency
Powered by a 13kW electric motor, the HX19e retains the hydraulic performance of its diesel counterpart. Key specifications include:- Bucket breakout force: 16kN

Eco-Friendly and Low Maintenance
A key advantage of the HX19e is its low maintenance requirements. Since it lacks an internal combustion engine, it eliminates the need for engine oil, fuel filters, and air filters.
