Rodradar is shaking up the excavation world with the launch of its Live Dig Radar (LDR) bucket, the first-ever excavator bucket equipped with ground-penetrating radar. This innovative technology allows excavator operators to detect underground utilities while digging, ensuring safer and more efficient work on site. The LDR bucket is now available for order globally, and with its advanced capabilities, it’s quickly gaining traction in the industry.
The LDR bucket works by scanning the ground beneath the excavator to locate any underground utilities. With a simple touch of a button, operators can receive real-time data on the depth and distance of utilities, reducing the risk of hitting them during excavation. The system is designed to alert operators with a visual warning when utilities are detected, allowing them to adjust their digging plan accordingly.
Rodradar has teamed up with Engcon to integrate the LDR bucket with Engcon’s quick-coupler and tiltrotator systems. This partnership brings together two cutting-edge technologies, making excavation safer and more efficient than ever before. The quick-coupler system will be available in the first quarter, while the tiltrotator system will be introduced later in the year.
The LDR bucket has already been tested in real-world conditions, including at JFK International Airport, where contractors have used it to enhance safety and reduce the likelihood of utility strikes. Contractors are being trained to use the LDR bucket effectively, ensuring that the technology is fully leveraged to improve safety and reduce downtime on job sites.
