Contractors handling road maintenance, site preparation and landscaping often face a difficult equipment choice. Box graders are relatively affordable but may lack the precision needed for professional road crowning, while full-size motor graders require a much larger investment. Roadrunner Equipment aims to bridge this gap with its new dual-blade grader attachments for skid steers, compact track loaders (CTLs) and tractors.
Introduced in September 2026, the new grader series is designed to deliver more precise grading capabilities without requiring contractors to purchase a dedicated motor grader. Its key innovation is a dual-blade system that allows operators to adjust each side independently, making it easier to create road crowns, drainage slopes and level surfaces.
## Independent Blade Adjustment for Greater Precision
The dual-blade design allows each side of the grader blade to be raised or lowered independently through hydraulic cylinders, with up to 4 inches of adjustment. This gives operators greater control over grading depth and surface shape.
The system is particularly useful for maintaining gravel roads, preparing construction sites and creating drainage slopes. By adjusting both blade sides independently, operators can achieve different surface profiles in a single pass, potentially reducing additional grading work and equipment requirements.
The attachment also combines two working edges for different tasks. A serrated front edge helps break up compacted materials, while the smooth rear edge provides a cleaner finish. A 10-degree cutting edge further supports material movement and surface shaping.
## Designed for Skid Steers, CTLs and Tractors
Roadrunner offers different mounting configurations to suit commonly used compact equipment. Its C Series grader uses a universal skid steer quick-attach mount for skid steers and compact track loaders. The tractor version, part of the B Series, is designed for three-point hitch compatibility.
Additional features include electronic fingertip controls operated through skid steer joysticks, a depth-indicator rod that allows operators to monitor blade position from the cab, and replaceable AR400 steel skid runners.
Contractors can also choose accessories such as bolt-on ripper teeth for breaking up hard-packed ground and a wheel kit for improved front-end stability. These options expand the attachment’s usefulness across different soil conditions and grading applications.
## A Practical Alternative for Smaller Projects
Roadrunner’s new attachments are not intended to replace motor graders in every application. Large highway construction projects and extensive earthmoving operations may still require dedicated grading machines. However, for smaller contractors, municipalities, property owners and landscaping businesses, a dual-blade attachment could provide a more economical way to handle routine grading work.
The ability to use an existing skid steer, CTL or tractor also helps reduce the need for additional equipment investment, transportation and storage.
As compact machines take on more specialized tasks, maintaining their hydraulic systems, tracks and undercarriage components becomes increasingly important. Regular inspections and timely replacement of worn parts help keep equipment productive under demanding working conditions.
